About Us
Located in the heart of Nyack, Tamarind offers a thoughtful approach to Indian cuisine that blends time-honored techniques with modern Indian flair.
Since opening in 2025, the restaurant has established itself within the Hudson Valley dining landscape. Led by Chef Manoj Rana and Chef Chandan Singh Rana, the restaurant brings together decades of global culinary expertise.
The menu travels across the Indian subcontinent, offering everything from the robust, warming flavors of North India to lighter, often coconut-inflected South Indian fare, along with Indo-Chinese dishes shaped by the region’s long history of culinary cross-pollination in the Himalayas. Throughout the menu, locally sourced ingredients and seasonal produce play a central role, allowing traditional preparations to feel fresh, balanced, and expressive.
Tamarind features two distinct spaces. The dining room offers a warm and comfortable layout with attentive service and subtle Indian-inspired accents throughout, creating an environment suited for relaxed meals and extended gatherings. Adjacent to it, the sleek bar and lounge provides a more energetic atmosphere, serving crafted cocktails, fine wines, and top-shelf spirits designed to complement the kitchen’s layered spice profiles.
Beyond the restaurant, Tamarind also offers customized catering for private events and celebrations. From intimate dinners to large-scale gatherings, the culinary team works closely with hosts to design menus that bring the restaurant’s signature flavors into guests’ own spaces. Additional details can be found at cateringbytamarind.com.
Today, with locations in Nyack, Poughkeepsie, and Newtown, Connecticut, Tamarind continues to offer a dining experience that feels both rooted and expansive, welcoming longtime regulars and first-time diners alike.
